This is not the first festival for Tame Impala. They have a busy summer with performances at Primavera Sound, Pukkelpop, Lowlands and more. And while Childish Gambino doesn’t have any date in Europe so far, you can still catch him at Coachella and Lollapalooza.
Vocalist and guitarist Kevin Parker and bassist Dominic Simper formed the band Tame Impala as 13-year-olds in Perth, Australia, in 1999. In 2007, Jay Watson joined them on drums and backing vocals. That was the time when their music moved out of the frames of Parker’s bedroom. After posting numerous tracks on MySpace, Modular Records showed some interest in the band and signed a contract in 2008. The same year, they released their self-titled debut EP. Since then, they have released 3 studio albums and are, according to Parker, working on the fourth. They are the most popular psych pop group and have worked with some big names, such as Mark Ronson.
Osheaga is the biggest Canadian music festival. It takes place in Montréal. In 2019, it will return to its previous location at the Parc Jean Drapeau on Ile Saint-Helene. It’s an indie festival that not only focuses on the music, but also on various visual arts. Last year, headliners were Florence + The Machine, Arctic Monkeys and Travis Scott.
