Summer festivals would not be as exciting without several months to speculate about which artists will take the stage next year. At Festileaks we always keep an eye out for rumours. This time we ask ourselves: who will we see at Mad Cool 2020?

The first acts for the Spanish festival have already been revealed. With Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Twenty One Pilots, Kings of Leon, The Killers and Faith No More, we know six out of eight headliners. Who could be the other two?

Here is an overview of the main rumours (in random order).

The Strokes

The Strokes

In a recent interview, The Strokes confirmed that new music is coming. Of course, the indie rock legends would not release a new album without promoting it at festivals. In fact, they are announced for the South American Lollapaloozas. Even though they already did shows at Bilbao BBK and All Points East this summer, they can easily headline a few European festivals in 2020.

My Chemical Romance

One of 2020’s big reunions is a real possibility for Mad Cool. On Halloween of 2019 My Chemical Romance announced they are reuniting for a series of comeback shows. By now the American rockers have announced a few festivals in Asia and Australia, and we certainly expect European festivals to follow. Channel your teenage emo self and get ready for the Black Parade!

Tame Impala

Tame Impala did more than a few festival performances this year, including big headline slots at Coachella and Lollapalooza, as well as Pukkelpop and Lowlands, amongst others. When booking Kevin Parker’s band, these festivals surely thought they would have new music by now. However, the album will only be released in February 2020. Another round of festivals is certain, with London’s All Points East already confirmed.

Foo Fighters

Foo Fighters almost never take a break. The rock band just finished a series of European festivals in August, including a massive show at Sziget 2019. Now, drummer Taylor Hawkins has revealed that a new album is in the works. It will be the follow-up of 2017’s Concrete and Gold when the Foos also headlined Mad Cool for the last time. Could the new record be followed by yet another tour?

Guns N’ Roses

Guns N' Roses

Guns N’ Roses have been announced for the South American Lollapalooza festivals in spring 2020. Quite often, this means a band will travel to Europe afterwards. The last time Guns N’ Roses came to Europe, during the Not in This Lifetime Tour in 2018, they performed at a few festivals, including Graspop and Download, but Mad Cool missed an opportunity to get them. It would not be unreasonable to think about GNR for 2020.

The Weeknd

The Weeknd’s last European festival tour dates to 2017. Now, the Canadian artist has been teasing an upcoming album on Twitter. Depending on when this will be finished, we can certainly expect him to return to Europe in 2020. The R&B singer may not fit the rock image of Mad Cool, but the Spanish festival has also booked more broadly in the past.
