Wacken Open Air 2019

1 – 3 August 2019
Wacken, Germany

Wacken Open Air is a metal festival in the village of Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, which was first held in 1990. Currently it is considered one of the biggest heavy metal festivals in the world, attracting over 75,000 metalheads annually from all around the globe. Headlining acts like Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, Motörhead, Megadeth, Bling Guardian, Rammstein, Scorpions and Ozzy Osbourne have rocked the double main stage throughout the years.

Wacken has over 150 bands playing every year on seven different stages, and even the beer garden has live bands entertaining attendants! Apart from the live performances, there are multiple options to enjoy your time at the festival. A huge number of food courts and shops can be found on the festival site, but Wackinger is also worth visiting if you need some medieval vibe and you are keen to see the vikings’ village and the knights’ camp, or you just want to see role-player battles or the highland games. In Welcome to the Jungle you can see wrestling, late night shows, but you also have the option to participate in metal yoga! Pretty brutal, right? In 2017, Wacken established a 7-km-long beer pipeline to make sure metalheads don’t go thirsty and they have access to beer coming from Wacken’s own brewery any time it is needed. This was also an aim to make the festival more eco-friendly by cutting down on traffic and waste. Wacken definitely has everything a metal enthusiast could wish for!
