Dear friends,
It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of DGTL Barcelona 2022.
Trying to find the right words to communicate this news with you is almost impossible, but we want to be open and honest with you all, because from the start it’s been you, the fans, who have supported us.
After years of not being able to welcome visitors because of Covid and the global pandemic, we were beyond excited that this year, we would finally be able to continue our DGTL dreams in Barcelona. The Summer of Love promised a festival season full of discovery, celebration of life and endless possibilities.
Unfortunately, the cold, hard reality is far different.
We are working in an event industry that still hasn’t recovered from a brutal couple of years, with the added pressure of the current economic situation in Spain and Europe making it even harder to organize large-scale events.
Yet we still believed in the power of DGTL. Bringing professionals from Barcelona and Amsterdam together as one team, and focused fully towards September 2022, we truly felt we had a solid plan to organize our event and sell enough tickets to make the festival viable. But after many months of hard work, of blood, sweat and tears, we haven’t seen the increase in ticket sales that we need for DGTL Barcelona to succeed. We have had to make what is an absolutely devastating call, because we can’t guarantee the quality of our festival, and the financial loss we’re facing is too big for us to carry.
We do not take this decision lightly, but after analyzing the event market, the economic situation, and after consulting all parties involved, we are forced to cancel this edition and our journey in Barcelona for now.
For the ticket owners: we will automatically refund all tickets bought via our ticket providers Shotgun and Resident Advisor.
We want to thank all our ticket buyers who intended to close this Summer together with us.
