Foo Fighters announce 2019 European Tour

Seattle rock legends Foo Fighters have announced a short list of European performances next summer. The tour will last from June to August next year and the short list of dates could be a sign of Foo Fighters headlining several European festivals in 2019.

The band has just finished up a 16-month long tour, spanning Europe, North America, South America and Asia. The tour promoted the band’s ninth studio album Concrete and Gold. The album came out in 2017, and is heavily influenced by the political climate in the US following the 2016 Presidential election, according to Dave Grohl. It was produced by Greg Kurstin, and is the first rock album Kurstin has produced. Moreover, following the success of their seventh album Wasting Light, it was their second number one album on the Billboard 200.

Meanwhile, this tour runs from June 19th until August 21st, just days before the Reading and Leeds festivals. This makes it look even more likely that Foo Fighters will headline ReadingSziget Festival, Pukkelpop or Lowlands 2019.

Tickets are set to go on sale at 10am on November 23rd. Their headline tour will include shows in Croatia, Denmark, Norway, Northern Ireland and Ireland. The Northern Irish date is the only festival date announced, with the other four being concert venues.

Foo Fighters are an American rock band from Seattle, formed in 1994. The band’s name comes from the UFO’s spotted by Allied pilots during the Second World War, now believed to be a rare weather phenomenon. The group was founded by Dave Grohl, a true rock ‘n’ roll icon of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, after the dissolution of Nirvana and the death of Kurt Cobain. The band began as a one-man project and Grohl played ever instrument on the first cassette tape, before recruiting Nate Mendel and William Goldsmith. He released their eponymous debut album a year later, which received very positive reviews from the media. After 24 years, Foo Fighters have headlined every major festival around the world. Four of their albums have won Grammy Awards for Best Rock Album. The band has sold over 12 million copies in the United States alone.
