3.04 How to choose a category and tags

The correct use of categories and tags is of vital importance to our site structure. It is used on nearly every page of the website to load and filter the content that is shown. Especially now we want to focus on building better and more complete landing pages for upcoming and previous festival editions, it is necessary to stick to a coherent tagging strategy.

Categories

Please stick to the following guidelines:

  • Select the appropriate category at ‘soort’ (type) For an Ambassador contribution, select the respective Dutch or English category. For a news article, select ‘News’ and so on.
  • When your article is about a specific festival, then select the category of that festival
  • When your article is about a specific band or artist, then select all the categories that correspond with the (major) festivals he/she/they play(s) at during the upcoming festival season.

Tags

Please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • When your article is about a specific festival, then give the corresponding to the name of the festival (in lowercase letters). Make sure to also add a tag including the name of the festival and the specific edition. A line-up announcement for Pinkpop 2020 would receive the tag ‘pinkpop 2020’.
  • When your article is about a specific band or artist, then use the artist’s name as a tag (in lowercase letters).
  • When your article relates to a specific genre, then use the genre name as a tag (in lowercase letters).
