The Smashing Pumpkins

The Smashing Pumpkins are an alternative rock band from Chicago, Illinois formed in 1988. In 1991, their debut album Gish was released and received largely enthusiastic reviews from the media. However, the band became more famous to the public with their later albums Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Although the band has undergone many lineup changes, they are still considered one of the most successful and critically acclaimed bands of the 1990s. Their diverse sound usually contains elements of various music genres, including psychedelic and progressive rock, and electronica. In 2018, three out of four original members reunited for the first time since 2000 for a worldwide tour, with its first leg taking place in the US this summer.
