Today, Selena Gomez is releasing her fourth album in her career by herself, but the first one in her inherited Spanish. Revelación is out now. 7 tracks, 3 collaborations and different genres.
It is not a secret that Selena Gomez is one of the biggest actual artists around the Globe, since she occupies #15 of the artists most listened to on Spotify. Even though her family is from Mexico, she has always sung in English. Anyway this is not something that had put any limits to her since she has broken all the boundaries. However, this year everything is changing, and the artist decided to release her first album in Spanish: Revelación. Latin music is clearly gaining fame, and Selena Gomez is not letting the opportunity to join them pass. After the success of the remarkable hit ‘Taki Taki’ with Ozuna, Dj Snake and Cardi B, Selena Gomez leaps on the Latin world and expands her music to a different audience. Could ‘Revelación’ mean the start of a new path in her career?
Revelación
Selena Gomez is captivating everyone with this new EP ‘Revelación’. Its first single was ‘De una vez’, released on January 15th, talking about losing love and getting over it, all concentrated in 2 minutes and 48 seconds. The second single was ‘Baila conmigo’ Ft. Raw Alejandro, the perfect reggaeton song to dance with. It was released on February 19th and until now, it has reached more than 86M streams on Spotify. On March 4th, Selena Gomez released the last one called ‘Selfish Love’ with Dj Snake, a fresh and summery song mixing English and Spanish in a hairstyle saloon.
The rest of the songs came with the publication of the album today. ‘Buscando amor’ is another Latin song, and in spite of the tittle (Looking for love), the song talks about dancing and partying but not looking for love at all. ‘Dámelo to’, with the popular Myke Towers, is a combination of both sexy lyrics and rhythm, talking about the desire between them. On the other hand, ‘Vicio’ starts calm but it changes into catchy at the moment the rhythm increases, but it is not pure reggaeton at all. ‘Adiós’ is the shortest song of the EP (2:10 minutes). It follows the path of ‘Baila conmigo’ and ‘Dámelo to’, probably reaching good positions in charts. Definitively, it could become her next hit.
Her shows
Selena Gomez has performed at a few festivals and lots of relevant shows and she clearly never disappoints. AMA, Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, NFL Thanksgiving Day Halftime Show, Billboard Music Awards are some of the shows that she has been invited to. As for festivals, Coachella and Frequency are two of them. Will this change of language and music style imply that Selena Gomez may join some different line ups in Latin America and Spain? Let’s cross fingers.
What else?
As we all know, she is not only a singer. She started her career at Wizards of Waverly Place, and since then she did not stop acting. Spring Breakers, Monte Carlo, The Fundamentals of Caring, A Rainy Day in New York and much more films we could add to her acting career. Selena Gomez is also the producer of some other projects: 13 Reasons Why, a teenager drama with a Golden Globe Award, lots of positive and negative reviews, but definitively with a huge audience, and the new one The Broken Hearts Gallery, a dramatic comedy. Apart from all of this, she has also a beauty firm called ‘Rare Beauty’.
Unquestionably, Selena Gomez is such a versatile professional capable of whatever she decides to immerse herself. But this is not the only remarkable Spanish album released in 2021. Discover C. Tangana and his ‘El Madrileño’, an already album of the year in Spain.
