Vandaag maakte de organisatie van de European Festival Awards de shortlist voor de awards van 2014 bekend. De Europese festivalprijzen worden voor de zesde keer uitgereikt en er zijn dit jaar negen Nederlandse festivals genomineerd. In januari worden de winnaars op Eurosonic-Noorderslag bekend gemaakt.
Muziekfestivals in meer dan 35 verschillende Europese landen streden voor de awards waaronder Best Major, Medium, Small, New en Indoor Festival. Tevens wordt er gestreden voor de award van Line-Up Of The Year. De titels voor artiesten zijn Headliner Of The Year, Best Newcomer en Anthem Of The Year. Er zijn ruim 1,2 miljoen stemmen van festivalbezoekers uitgebracht om de lijst samen te stellen.
De Nederlandse genomineerden zijn Best Kept Secret (Best Medium-Sized European Festival en Best European Festival Line-Up), Into The Great Wide Open (Best Small European Festival), Down The Rabbit Hole (Best New European Festival), Festival The Brave (Best New European Festival), Sensation (Best Indoor Festival), Birth of Joy (Newcomer Of The Year), Pinkpop (Best European Festival Line-Up), Friendly Fire (Promotor Of The Year), Mysteryland (The Green Operations Award) en Welcome To The Future (The Green Operations Award).
