The Smashing Pumpkins announce first European shows for fall 2018

The Smashing Pumpkins Band

The legendary American alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins have revealed their first European shows for this fall. Following the return of two of their founding members, the band will perform in London and Bologna this October. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Friday 22 June at 9:00 a.m. local time.

Earlier in February, Billy Corgan, the frontman of the band, had announced that he is currently working with Rick Rubin on a future Smashing Pumpkins album, their first in 18 years. After the return of James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin to the band, they revealed the dates of their first US tour in four years, followed by the release of the first single, ‘Solara’, of their upcoming album.

It is still unknown whether the band will announce more European dates for this year.

The Smashing Pumkins

The Smashing Pumpkins are an alternative rock band from Chicago, Illinois formed in 1988. The band released their debut album Gish in 1991 and received largely enthusiastic reviews from the media. However, the band became more famous to the public with their later albums Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. Although the band has undergone many lineup changes, The Smashing Pumpkins are still considered one of the most successful and critically acclaimed bands of the 1990s. Their diverse sound usually contains elements of various music genres, including psychedelic and progressive rock, and electronica. In 2018, three out of four original members reunited for the first time since 2000 for a worldwide tour, with its first leg taking place in the US this summer.
