On Wednesday, 27 January, Solidays releases their first names for the edition to come. Some of the artists announced last years are back again. Therefore, Solidays comes with bad news: even though they want to believe the festival will happen, they realize that there is a possibility for the event to be cancelled.
Sean Paul and Black Eyed Peas will headline
They were announced last year but, because of the global pandemic, Solidays had to cancelled. The event that changes the world was then in danger. But then, the new announcement make us think that there is a chance for the festival to happen in 2021, depending on the new restrictions and measures.
Sean Paul and Black Eyed Peas will headline the festival. Moreover, Justice will be back in Paris for a special DJ set. Electronic music will have a good place too with Boris Brejcha, while MEUTE will make Solidays dance for the third time in a row. Damso, a famous French rapper, will be there too. To close this already great line up, we can count on the French Female Revelation at the Victoires de la Musique, Suzane. Here is the official announcement on video:
“On veut y croire, mais les chances sont minces 😞”
“We want to believe it will happen, but there are small chances”. Like 140 other festivals, Solidays firmed the press column, being optimistic for 2021. Therefore, It looks like regarding the restrictions, this positivism is shaded. Some days before, Hellfest’s Director took contact with the Minister of Culture to talk about the Festival’s situation and find some agreements for this summer. If there are festivals, they might be different. Like in all the planet, we will have the answer in the weeks to come.
An incredible audience that saved the festival
Last year, Solidays survived thanks to the generosity of the festival goers. After the festival’s cancellation, they asked the organization to keep the ticket office open. Solidays is a non profit organization that fights against AIDS all around the globe, and all the festival benefits go into their projects. Because of that incredible audience, they can organize this new edition. If the festival happen, we will find back all the smiles and positivism at Longchamp, where Lollapalooza Paris takes place too.
“Born in a 14m2 studio in the mind of two students ready to change the world, Solidays festival is not a festival like the other ones”. With this sentence the presentation of Solidays starts. The festival takes place in the Hippodrome de Longchamp in Paris, the same location as Lollapalooza. “Born on sharing and help values, it feeds the minds, wakes consciences, closes the people. Year after year, it allows people to develop what best they have in mind”.
Solidays is a place of liberty created by a non profit organisation. Every year, some big artists like Robbie Williams, Macklemore, Die Antwoord or Parov Stelar come to Paris to celebrate life, love and music. Most of the people that are working for the festival are volunteers and participate on the creation of the magnificent event.
