This morning, Mad Cool announced 27 new names for its 2021 edition. However, the organisation also said that 13 artists are still missing. To be exact, two more headliners will be announced soon. Which artists will they be?
It’s official: Cardi B, Kings of Leon, The War on Drugs and more join the already great line-up for Mad Cool 2021. Among others, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers and Twenty One Pilots will also headline. Yet, there are still two empty spaces at the top of the bill: one on Thursday 8 and another on Friday 9 July.
Who are these legends that are going to complete this line-up? These are the potential artists who might be announced for Mad Cool 2021.
Billie Eilish for Mad Cool 2021?
Billie Eilish will almost certainly headline Mad Cool 2021. The American superstar would have played the festival in 2020, but this obviously did not happen. Now, Mad Cool has shared some clear hints. For this morning’s announcement, the festival shared the names in a video on their social networks. If you turn on the sound, you can hear ‘Bad Guy’ play in the background. It seems like Mad Cool is only waiting for an authorisation to announce.
Finneas
With Billie Eilish on the line-up, her brother Finneas is probably one of the other artists who are yet to be announced. He generally tours with his sister, and would have played at Mad Cool 2020 as well. It’s unlikely that the festival will put him in a headline spot, but Finneas would be a nice addition to the undercard.
Post Malone
Post Malone is another great option. The hip hop artist will be in Europe around Mad Cool 2021. He will play Rock in Rio Lisbon in late June, and Reading & Leeds Festivals in August. Post Malone has performed at Mad Cool before, and the festival would love him return as a headliner. He would make the line-up even more eclectic.
Dua Lipa
2020 was a huge year for Dua Lipa. New album Future Nostalgia is a huge commercial hit, and also received rave reviews from the critics. Singles ‘Don’t Start Now’, ‘Physical’ and ‘Break My Heart’ are all bangers. However, the singer did not have the opportunity to present her album live on stage. If she does festivals in 2021, then why not have her at Mad Cool? She already announced a show in Madrid on 17 October 2021, but she could offer a great show at the festival that prepares its “most complete and impressive line-up so far.” Not super likely, but definitely possible.
Gorillaz
Another long shot for a headline spot is Gorillaz. Fresh from their series of Song Machine hits, they will play at Rock Werchter and We Love Green 2021. However, some weeks before Mad Cool 2021, Gorillaz will also be playing at Primavera Sound. Generally, these two festivals do not share a lot of artists, but it’s not impossible. There is still a small possibility to dream of having Damon Albarn’s band in Madrid.
