Finally, after being postponed, Primavera Sound revealed its stellar lineup for 2022. After two years of waiting, festival-goers will come back to Barcelona for a double, extended Primavera Sound edition: in fact, the next edition will take place over two weekends with two different lineups and during the week in various locations all over the city.
Among the tons of names on the poster, there are three Italian artists that are worth a mention: Iosonouncane, Lorenzo Senni and Lory D. All of them will play on 3 June, Weekend 1.
Jacopo Incani, aka Iosonouncane, is a songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist native of Sardinia. His first album called La Macarena su Roma was released in 2010 on Trovarobato Records. In 2015 he published his second studio album named Die to critical acclaim: Die is a concept album intrinsically linked to the author’s land, Sardinia. The six tracks that make up the album, tell about the vicissitudes and thoughts of two lovers, a man in the sea and a woman on the mainland. At Primavera Sound 2022, Iosonouncane, that already played at this festival in 2017, will perform his third and latest studio album, another concept album called Ira; released in May 2022 on Sony Music, Ira is a 2 hours musical journey that brings the audience into a world of sounds and voices. This summer Iosonouncane will present his new album in a mini Italian tour, already sold out.
Primavera Sound loves Warp Records artists: Autechre, Squarepusher, Evian Christ, Squid, Jockstrap and the Italian prodigy Lorenzo Senni will all play in 2022 edition. Lorenzo Senni is a producer and visual artist from Cesena. His music is a mix of trance and techno, minimalism, with almost no rhythm. Senni runs his own label, Presto?! Records, but from 2016 he is in the roster of the legendary Warp Records. The EP Persona, released in 2016, received enthusiastic reviews by music critics. In 2020 he published his third studio album, Scacco Matto, to wide critical acclaim. As his colleagues, he will play on Thursday 3 June.
The equation is simple: Italian techno = Lory D. Lorenzo D’Angelo – this is his real name -, together with Leo Anibaldi and Max Durante, is one of the most important figures of Italian techno history. Active since the end of the ’80s in Rome, Lory D had the ability to bring in Italy the sound of Detroit, Chicago and especially London but at the same time to export the new Italian sound abroad. In the ’90s his label, Sounds Never Seen, has been the reference point for all the techno lovers and, just to name one, it inspired Aphex Twin and his Rephlex Record. Nowadays, like it used to be, Lory D’s DJ sets are dark, deep and heavy.
